Joan of Arc | Art & Fable Review

Isn’t this just a beautiful puzzle? This is Joan of Arc, the gorgeous 1,000-piece puzzle from Art & Fable featuring the incredible artwork of one of my favorite puzzle artists, Olga Suvorova. Full disclosure, this is one of the puzzles I sell in my shop.

I’ve done several Art & Fable puzzles now and this one was just as satisfying to put together as the others. I really love the finish they use on their pieces. It’s a soft, velvet matte finish that feels nice to the touch and (my favorite) it doesn’t show glare from overhead lighting. The colors are saturated and the art is crisp. My only complaint is that I had a handful of false fits at the beginning on the border/frame section. I think this is mostly due to the repeating nature of the gold frame that was added to the art. If the frame had more variation, rather than the repeating curves, I don’t think there would have been nearly as many as I encountered. That’s all to say, it just took a little more focus to put together that section. I have run into the same issue on a few other puzzles from other brands, which also had a repetitive borders.

Other than the false fits at the beginning, this puzzle was so enjoyable to put together. I really love that Olga’s art is bright, full of detail, and generally always has a lot of different elements. I find it really easy to pop around and work on multiple sections at once.

Art & Fable puzzles come with some extra goodies along with every jigsaw puzzle box. Each puzzle comes with a high-quality art print, a box top holder so that you can prop up your box top to reference while puzzling and a resealable plastic bag. The art print is printed on a really nice, thick paper stock and the colors and finish are really high-quality.
