Isn’t this puzzle such a vibe? I have such a soft spot for illustrated artwork and this image is just so moody and different. This is Moth Girl, the 500 piece puzzle from Genuine Fred which features the beautiful artwork of Yasmin Imamura.

I just adore so much about this image. I love the Moth Girl with her feathery antenna which look almost like a headband and the patterns on her wings. I like how the scale is set with the lemon and tea bin and how the girl is actually quite small (which makes sense if she’s part moth). The colors in this piece, with the teals, greens and yellows is what initially drew me to this puzzle. I first saw this puzzle months ago on Amazon and it’s been on my TBA (to be assembled) list ever since. I was delighted when I walked into my local thrift and was able to snag it for a mere $3.99! That was a good day.

Genuine Fred puzzles are a mid-budget brand. Their puzzles range in price from around $15-$23. The quality is really not bad for that price. What I like most about Genuine Fred is the fun, funky images they pick for their puzzles. I think they do a really good job of finding incredible artwork to license for their puzzles. If you are in the market for bright, vibrant illustrated artworks, I’d give Fred a look. They do have a few photography based images as well but the bulk of their puzzle catalog are more illustrated/cartoon/anime style imagery.

With the exception of my camera mount failing in the beginning, this puzzle came together easily. I had initially worried that the wall section might prove to be difficult but as it was only a 500-piece I found it no problem at all. I only had one instance of a false fit (which if you are paying attention you can see where that was). My husband joined me for a little while too, so keep an eye out for his hand joining mine in the video towards the end.
